Per Diem Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator

About the role

This position performs medical, technical, and administrative support services to contribute to the efficient day-to-day operations providing a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Take and record vital signs and medical histories
• Prepare patients for examination
• Auxiliary in procedures as directed by physician
• Provide administrative support to providers
• Schedule patient appointments in coordination with provider availability
• Manage in-basket and incoming faxes
• Interact with patients in person and on the phone
• Answer clinic phone
• Collect patient information
• Update and maintain electronic records
• Verify insurance and obtain patient prior authorizations for medications
• Ensure clinic has necessary inventory for operation
• Perform clerical tasks

Requirements

• Current work authorization
• Experience working in an environment performing tasks related to front and back office duties
• Experience using standard exam room medical equipment and computers
• Experience working in a women's health, primary care, or multi-specialty clinic

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Diploma
• Bilingual-English/Spanish (preferred)

Skills

• Customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Understanding of medical terminology
• Familiarity with universal precautions, handling of bio-hazardous waste, specimen identification and transport
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients of varying ages and multicultural backgrounds
• Strong interpersonal skills

Benefits

Per diem appointees may be scheduled on a pre-scheduled basis or as needed on a day-to-day basis or called off from a pre-established schedule as determined by the University and clinical operation needs.

Pay

The full salary range for the Per Diem Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator is $29.77 per hour.

Schedule

This position may be required to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
