About the role
The Emergency Department secretary/monitor technician supports nurses, physicians, and the Department Director by providing clerical assistance and coordinating communication within the department and hospital.
Responsibilities
- Timely and efficient initiation of patient care orders
- Coordination of communication within the department and hospital
- Maintaining par levels of necessary office and chart supplies
- Following through with equipment repair and maintenance
Requirements
Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System. BLS Certification. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Previous acute care hospital experience
- Previous experience as unit secretary/monitor technician
- Basic Dysrhythmia Course
