Responsibilities
- Support recruiting efforts by posting job opportunities, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications.
- Aid in hiring activities, including preparing offer letters and pre-employment documentation.
- Cook up pre-employment screenings and onboarding requirements.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including orientation scheduling, new hire paperwork, and employment eligibility verification (Form I-9).
- Ensure employee files and onboarding documentation are completed and maintained accurately.
- Assist with employee events, communications, and engagement activities.
- Assist with employee separations, exit documentation, and offboarding processes.
- Serve as a go-to person for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, payroll, and general employment matters.
- Escalate complex employee relations concerns to the People Operations Manager.
- Maintain employee files and documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Aid in HR audits, compliance tracking, and required reporting.
- Coordinate compliance with California labor laws, food manufacturing requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate employee training programs, including food safety, workplace safety, harassment prevention, and other required compliance trainings as well as tracking and maintaining training records.
- Partner with staffing agencies to coordinate onboarding requirements, attendance tracking, and compliance documentation for temporary employees.
- Work with corporate to provide information to be recorded within HRIS and related systems.
- Generate routine reports and assist with data audits to ensure accuracy.
- Process employee status changes, promotions, transfers, and other personnel actions.
- Aid in communicating company policies, procedures, and People Operations programs.
- Support policy acknowledgment tracking and document retention requirements.
- Cook up leave-related documentation and employee communications.
- Maintain leave records and assist with tracking leaves of absence under the direction of the People Operations Manager.
- Ensure required documentation is collected and filed appropriately.
- Support workplace safety initiatives and training programs.
- Aid in workers' compensation reporting, documentation, and claim tracking.
- Partner with Operations and Safety teams to maintain accurate records and follow-up documentation.
- Participate in People Operations projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Occasionally travel to support People Operations initiatives and training activities at other company locations.
Qualifications
- Ace an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a big plus.
- Bring one to three years of Human Resources, administrative, recruiting, or employee support experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, distribution, or a related environment is a must-have.
- Show a working knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
- Show strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Show excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Show high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Show proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
