About the role
The Pell Grant / Compliance Policy Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, ensures the accurate, compliant, and efficient administration of Pell Grant processing and related financial aid operations. The incumbent manages the functional and technical setup of systems used to deliver federal aid, collaborates with internal Financial Aid units, the Disbursement Office, Professional and Global Education (PaGE), academic departments, and external agencies, and ensures all processes align with federal student aid regulations. This position also leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive financial aid business process guides and compliance procedures, and works with Financial Aid management to provide training and guidance to staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient administration of Pell Grant processing and related financial aid operations.
- Manage functional and technical setup of systems used to deliver federal aid.
- Collaborate with internal Financial Aid units, the Disbursement Office, Professional and Global Education (PaGE), academic departments, and external agencies.
- Ensure all processes align with federal student aid regulations.
- Lead development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive financial aid business process guides and compliance procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on federal, state, and institutional requirements.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
- Three years of full-time progressive experience in program management or coordination involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
- A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of required experience.
- Demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
- Successful completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) prior to employment.
- Residency in the State of California required upon date of hire.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working with student information systems and Federal Student Aid systems, including but not limited to FAA CPS Online, COD Online Services, NSLDS, and FAFSA on the Web.
- Demonstrated working experience with PeopleSoft.
- Demonstrated experience with Federal Student Aid programs in a higher education setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively serve students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to compose and appropriately format professional correspondence, as well as produce accurate statistical data reports.
- Knowledge of California State University (CSU) system policies and Cal State LA policies and procedures.
Pay
$5,797 – $8,445/month (Budgeted hiring salary range: $5,797/month)
Schedule
Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification.
