Peds Cardiovascular Technologist II

This position reports to the Cath Lab Supervisor and Interventional Cardiology and Imaging Manager. Under limited supervision, the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Cardiovascular Technologist II performs and assists complex technical procedures, operating at a high level of technical competency while demonstrating initiative and ingenuity.

About the role

The MUSC Pediatric Cardiac Cath and EP Lab consists of two state-of-the-art labs with capability to perform hybrid OR procedures, supported by a dedicated Cardiac Prep and Recovery unit. This role is responsible for special cardiovascular, EP, and interventional procedures on patients ranging from neonates to adult congenital cardiac patients. The position functions proficiently during heart catheterization, electrophysiology studies, ablations, and other cardiovascular interventional radiographic procedures, requiring strong knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Perform and assist with complex technical procedures in pediatric interventional cardiology.
• Operate with high-level technical competency and act with initiative under limited supervision.
• Ensure safe use of ionizing radiation for cardiovascular, EP, and interventional procedures.
• Function proficiently during heart catheterization, electrophysiology studies, ablations, and other interventional radiographic procedures.
• Maintain strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, including normal and abnormal conditions.
• Complete the Imaging Specialist Clinical Ladder Program and annual revalidation process to remain at level III competency.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiological Sciences (RT) or an accredited school for Cardiovascular Technology (CVT).
• At least two years of modality-specific experience.
• Must be endorsed as a level III through the Imaging Specialist Clinical Ladder Program.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (completed within the first 30 days if not already certified).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (may be completed within the first 6 months).
• Cath lab or cardiovascular specialty certification preferred.

Skills

• Fully competent in advanced modality skill sets with flexibility to rotate across procedures.
• Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
• Proficient in operating specialized equipment for interventional and EP procedures.

Pay

Schedule

• Hours Per Week: 40
• Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week), plus on-call duties.
