About the Role

Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family. Implements medically prescribed interventions.

About the Unit

Mission Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the only one in Western NC, providing 24/7 critical care for children from newborn to 18 years old. The PICU offers specialized care for a variety of conditions, serving more than 2,500 children annually.

Mission Hospital is licensed for 853 beds and serves as the regional tertiary and quaternary care center in Western North Carolina. It is the region’s only trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III neonatal intensive care unit, and includes the only children’s hospital in Western North Carolina. Mission Hospital is also a Magnet® designated hospital for nursing excellence.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing (eNLC license may apply; licensee should confirm with NCBON)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
