Responsibilities
- Maintain high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the department.
- Monitor and evaluate the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures, and hold staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.
- Ensure adherence to standards of care, and ensure a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.
- Support efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
- Support the achievement of internal and external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations.
- Ensure equipment maintenance is performed regularly and according to standards.
- Manage the admissions and discharge process to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Facilitate effective care coordination within and across departments, and ensure staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs.
- Manage the nursing practice and unit operations.
- Provide leadership to attain and sustain an excellent patient experience, and instill accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions.
- Review feedback mechanisms to identify areas of improvement, and support strategies that will elevate the patient experience.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Support a patient-first philosophy and engage in service recovery when needed.
- Inspire commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization and implement employee engagement practices.
- Identify development opportunities or training needs of employees and teams, and provide coaching and feedback to improve performance.
- Arrange for the attraction, development, engagement, and retention of talent to meet business needs.
- Be responsible for resolving or channeling employee grievances, disputes, or concerns.
- Participate in company-supported community and patient events and in-services.
- Manage staff scheduling in accordance with productivity guidelines.
- Manage operating expenses, identify cost reduction opportunities, and implement actions to achieve savings.
Requirements
- 1+ years experience in a healthcare setting.
- 1+ years experience in a leadership role (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required).
- Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse or active Compact license in the state of Texas (required).
- Basic Life Support certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) (required within 90 days of hire).
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) (preferred).
Qualifications
- 1+ years experience in a healthcare setting.
- 1+ years experience in a leadership role (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required).
- Master's degree in Nursing (preferred).
