Pediatric Neurologist (MD/DO) - UNC Health Children's

About the role

This team is part of an innovative partnership between UNC Health, UNC School of Medicine, and Novant Health to provide specialty care to children from communities throughout southeastern and coastal NC. The Novant Health – New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH-NHRMC) facility is a full spectrum community-based, multispecialty practice and a children’s hospital that includes a 45-bed Level III NICU, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and inpatient unit. Through the partnership between Novant Health and UNC Children’s, NH-NHRMC is the tertiary care referral hospital for children in Coastal and Southeastern NC.

Responsibilities

• Join two other pediatric neurologists based at the Wilmington regional campus and two excellent advanced practice providers.
• The candidate must be board certified / eligible in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology. Additional training in either sleep medicine or epilepsy is preferred but not required.
• Able to interpret EEGs is required.
• The faculty member will also be expected to develop and perform clinical activities in surrounding outreach locations in Southeastern NC.
• Through the ongoing expansion of educational opportunities, the faculty member will also be expected to develop and perform clinical activities in surrounding outreach locations in Southeastern NC.

Requirements

• Must be board certified / eligible in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology.
• Additional training in either sleep medicine or epilepsy is preferred but not required.
• Able to interpret EEGs is required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited ACGME/ACGME-approved residency program in Neurology.
• Completion of a fellowship in Child Neurology (preferred).
• Ability to interpret EEGs (required).

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong clinical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
