Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical care in pediatric neurology and epilepsy
- Participate in inpatient general child neurology and epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) services
- Interpret routine EEGs, stereo-EEGs, evoked potentials, and long-term video EEGs
- Participate in pre-surgical diagnostic evaluations for pediatric epilepsy
- Conduct pediatric neurology and epilepsy subspecialty outpatient clinics
- Teach and supervise residents and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations
Clinical Expertise
- Experience with multimodal epilepsy surgery diagnostic evaluations
- Planning and interpretation of stereo-EEG for seizure localization
- Collaborative surgical planning with pediatric neurosurgery
- Familiarity with advanced surgical and neuromodulation approaches, including Laser interstitial thermal ablation (LITT) and Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for pediatric patients
- Experience with subdural grid and depth electrode stereotactic techniques for pre-surgical epilepsy evaluation
Qualifications
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Child Neurology residency
- Completion of an accredited Epilepsy fellowship
- Eligible for or licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina
- ABPN Board Certified in Child Neurology
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Epilepsy
