About the Role

The Advanced Practice Pediatric Clinical Psychologist provides specialized direct patient care in assigned locations, following Rady Children's integrated behavioral health models and guidelines. Responsibilities include developing care plans, implementing evidence-based therapies and testing, recommending ongoing treatment, and linking children to community mental health resources. The psychologist collaborates with supervisors, leadership, operational leaders, physicians, and staff to advance behavioral health initiatives aimed at improving pediatric population health. Additionally, they participate in departmental initiatives supporting the vision and innovation of integrated psychology services.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Rady Children’s integrated behavioral health models and guidelines.
  • Develop care plans and implement evidence-based therapies and testing.
  • Recommend ongoing treatment and link children to community mental health resources/therapeutic services.
  • Adhere to departmental guidelines regarding minimum diagnostic testing time (where applicable).
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, leadership, operational leaders, physicians, and staff to coordinate and improve psychologist functions and roles.
  • Participate in behavioral health initiatives to improve pediatric population health.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives supporting integrated psychology services.

Requirements

  • BLS for Health Providers (American Heart Association).
  • PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or a related field with specialization in pediatrics.
  • California State license in psychology.
  • Specialized training or certification in applicable areas (e.g., ADOS training, PCIT certification, diagnostic testing for ages 0-5).
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship with specialization in pediatric psychology, sleep psychology, pain psychology, or another applicable specialty.
  • 1 year of clinical experience.
  • Successful completion of the required credentialing process for the department/area of practice.
  • Ability to work independently, using critical thinking to make objective, strategic, and results-oriented decisions in patient care and organizational priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree from an APA-accredited program.
  • 3 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Pay

The current salary range for this position is $58.38 to $80.28 per hour. Rady Children’s Hospital conducts regular market reviews to ensure competitive and equitable compensation within the nonprofit healthcare sector. The hiring range reflects the expected salary for qualified candidates, with final compensation decisions based on experience, education, licensure, unique skillsets, organizational need, and internal equity.
