Psychologist - Pediatric Autism

We are seeking a psychologist or neuropsychologist to join our expanding interdisciplinary team specializing in autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. This position is available at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on a clinician or academic track.

About the Role

The University of Minnesota has an established autism clinic and research program, committed to delivering high-quality services informed by research. This role involves an appointment in the Autism and Neurodevelopment Clinic, with the majority of effort dedicated to clinical services and opportunities to contribute to or develop research. The position is part of the Masonic Institute on the Developing Brain (MIDB), which brings together researchers, clinicians, educators, and policy experts to address early and adolescent brain health.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological and neuropsychological evaluations of children and adults with suspected or previously diagnosed autism.
• Deliver supportive communication with family members, schools, and other providers involved in the child's care.
• Perform in-depth evaluations, including written and oral feedback to families, providers, and schools regarding test results and recommendations for treatment and educational planning.
• Potential opportunities to lead or participate in treatment groups.
• Provide supervision of trainees.
• Participate in team conferences and provide consultative services on and off site.
• Collaborate as a positive, constructive team member.
• Conduct outreach activities for the medical professional community.
• Participate in seminars and other didactic experiences.
• Train to reliability on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R).

About the Division

The Division of Clinical Behavioral Neuroscience is housed in the Department of Pediatrics within the University of Minnesota Medical School. The division includes psychologists, physicians, and faculty researchers focused on the neurodevelopmental needs of children and families. Faculty contribute to research, education, and service, often collaborating across the Department of Pediatrics, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and other University areas.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology, school psychology, or counseling psychology from an APA and/or CPA accredited program.
• Internship training and a minimum of 1-year post-doctoral training in pediatric psychology or neuropsychology.
• Licensed or ability to acquire a clinical license in the State of Minnesota, meeting threshold criteria for credentialing and privileges.
• Strong diagnostic skills and willingness to train to reliability on the ADOS and ADI-R.
• Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, and computer proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Research-level training and reliability on diagnostic measures for autism, including ADOS and ADI-R.
• Experience working with complex patients with autism (e.g., profound autism, autism with co-occurring medical or mental health conditions) and very young patients (under age 3).

Pay and Benefits

This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.

• Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is $115,600 - $170,800, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE.
• University salary is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
