PE Teacher, Elementary (2026-2027) - Temporary - Long Call - Loring

Temporary position at Loring Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. Full-time (1.0 FTE) within the Teachers union.

About the Role

Provide quality physical-education instruction aligned to state and national standards. Use diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to guide instruction and foster student self-management. Engage students in rigorous, inquiry-based learning that develops both content mastery and scholarly habits. May participate on the campus STEM team to support integrated instruction across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Implement Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements.
• Design and deliver lessons that promote thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement best practices tailored to student needs.
• Assess students’ cognitive, social, and developmental needs and adapt instruction accordingly.
• Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that is multicultural, gender-fair, and ability-appropriate.
• Communicate regularly with families and leverage community resources to support learning.
• Align instruction with the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site goals.
• Evaluate instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP).
• Engage in ongoing professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and job-embedded training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Minnesota teaching license or proof of pending approved licensure.
• Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural setting.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional growth.

Pay

$28.12 per hour.
