About the Role
Provide quality Spanish instruction aligned to state and national standards. Use a variety of assessment strategies—diagnostic, formative, and summative—to inform instructional decisions and increase student self-management of learning. Engage students in rigorous, inquiry-based learning tasks that deepen content knowledge and foster habits of scholarship. May collaborate with the campus STEM team to ensure quality integrated instruction across disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Implement Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements, applying knowledge of subject matter, classroom management, best practices, and student learning styles.
- Teach required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices based on student needs and abilities.
- Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs and provide appropriate instruction.
- Create safe, respectful, and engaging learning environments that are multicultural, gender-fair, and developmentally appropriate.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with families to support educational decisions and leverage community resources.
- Align instruction with Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school goals.
- Assess instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP) and participate in ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
- Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, or job-embedded staff development.
- Valid Minnesota teaching license or proof of pending approved licensure.
Qualifications
Master’s or PhD preferred.
Pay
$28.12 per hour.
