Qualifications

  • Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education Teaching License or must qualify for a Minnesota teaching license. The District is willing to consider candidates licensed in other content areas and provide support for an Out-of-Field Permit (OFP).
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish (requires an "Advanced" rating under the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, assessed via InterviewIQ).
  • English language proficiency sufficient for parent communication.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate native or near-native fluency in Spanish (ACTFL "Advanced" rating required).
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to individual and small-group needs, aligning with District-approved curriculum.
  • Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences using Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology for immersion instruction.
  • Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards to foster an effective learning environment.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth, maintain timely records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify pupil needs, make referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
  • Communicate regularly with parents via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors in a supportive, team-oriented manner.
  • Maintain and improve professional skills through meetings, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars.
  • Integrate technology into instruction.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including emergency response and policy adherence.
  • Coordinate and provide input on the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers, including goal-setting.

Skills

  • Experience in an immersion program preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating classroom technology, including computers and software.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Professional composure and adaptability in diverse situations.
  • Self-motivation and initiative in daily routines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
