Temporary position at Loring Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. Full-time (1.0 FTE) within the Teachers union.

About the Role

Provide quality instruction aligned to state and national standards. Use a variety of assessment strategies—diagnostic, formative, and summative—to inform instructional decisions and increase student self-management of learning. Engage students in rigorous, inquiry-based learning tasks that deepen content knowledge and foster habits of scholarship. May collaborate with the campus STEM team to ensure integrated instruction across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements using evidence-based strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • Teach required curricula through methods that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices tailored to students' needs and abilities.
  • Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs; provide instruction that addresses those needs.
  • Design safe, respectful, and engaging lessons that are multicultural, gender-fair, ability-inclusive, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Partner with families to make educational decisions and leverage community resources to support learning.
  • Align instruction with the goals of the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school objectives.
  • Evaluate instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP).
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including staff, team, and individual learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Prior successful experience in student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth through coursework, research, peer collaboration, or job-embedded staff development.
  • Valid Minnesota teaching license or proof of pending approved licensure.

Master’s or PhD preferred. Final appointment contingent upon passing a criminal background check.

Pay

$28.12 per hour.
