About the role
We're looking for a Payroll Specialist I to process multi-state payroll, ensure compliance, handle employee inquiries, and support a team of 5.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process multi-state weekly, bi-weekly, and special full-cycle payrolls
- Monitor electronic timekeeping systems for accuracy
- Review and approve employee portal changes on a third-party notification system
- Collaborate with the team to ensure accurate payroll transactions
- Review automated system outputs before submitting to the third-party vendor
- Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries
- Prepare and distribute Prevailing Wage reports with supporting documents
- Prepare payroll-related entries for accounting each payroll cycle
- Partner with HR on matters involving compensation, benefits, and disability payments
- Manage compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation
- Distribute, record, and monitor agency tax notices and tracers with a third-party provider
- Prepare materials for internal or external audits as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
