Essential Job Functions
- Maintains personnel records, computes and prepares payroll, posts compensated absences to update individual sick and vacation balances. Verifies employment/earnings when requested.
- Forwards workers’ compensation and insurance forms to the County Insurance/Benefits Coordinator.
- Assists with recruitment initiatives, conducts new hire orientation presentation and manages new hire paperwork.
- Collaborates with HR and Management teams to coordinate training initiatives, researches and interviews trainers, coordinates and schedules management, employee, and development training and special events.
- Affirms compliance with federal and state regulations and government reporting requirements: EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor and OSHA. Assists with employee benefit administration, self-insured workers’ compensation, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Ohio Driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Minimum of two years of related experience in this field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintain knowledge of public employees benefits, retirement, and self-insured workers compensations
- Perform payroll and related responsibilities
- Maintain various employee procedures, guidelines and documents
- Oversee records and employee databases
- Ensure compliance with departmental, state and federal rules and regulations
- Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and logic
- Exercise good judgement
- Exhibit sound decision-making when faced with complex or unique situations
- Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and ethical standards
- Consistently deliver general customer service in a professional fashion
