Payroll Specialist
Job Overview
Search Solution Group is seeking a Junior Payroll Specialist on behalf of our client, a global trading firm specializing in quantitative trading, market making, and venture capital.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll for a large employee population
- Partner with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and alignment with employee data
- Assist with payroll-related impacts of benefits, compensation changes, and employee lifecycle events
- Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Collaborate with third-party tax vendors and external partners on payroll-related matters
- Support state tax registrations and compliance as the organization expands into new jurisdictions
- Contribute to payroll system updates, testing, and future ERP implementation initiatives
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Assist with global payroll considerations, including international mobility and intercompany transactions
- Contribute to continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
- Experience: 3–7 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a high-volume, multi-state environment; experience supporting large employee populations strongly preferred
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; high attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; proficiency in payroll systems (experience with UKG Pro or similar systems preferred); advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of multi-state payroll laws and tax regulations; familiarity with complex payroll environments including states such as California, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania; exposure to global payroll, international assignments, or global mobility is a plus
