Payments Operations Manager
Are you passionate about payments, technology, and creating exceptional member experiences? BHFCU is seeking a Payments Operations Manager to lead a critical area of our organization and help shape the future of how members move and manage their money.
Responsibilities
- Lead all payment operations and money movement services across the credit union
- Develop and implement strategies that support organizational goals and member experience initiatives
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements, efficiency gains, and payment innovation
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and payment network developments
- Oversee ACH processing, wire transfers, debit card programs, and credit card operations
- Support digital payment solutions, including: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Wallet, Zelle, real-time payments, other emerging payment technologies
- Manage payment processing, transaction settlement, disputes, chargebacks, and operational controls
- Oversee ATM and ITM settlement, balancing, and reconciliation activities
- Ensure compliance with payment regulations, card network requirements, and internal controls
- Partner with compliance, audit, fraud, and security teams to manage operational risk
- Manage relationships with payment processors, card vendors, network providers, and fraud partners
- Support audits, examinations, vendor reviews, and regulatory requirements
- Lead, coach, and develop payment operations staff
- Establish performance expectations, department goals, and service standards
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and member service excellence
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in payments, card services, electronic banking, or financial operations
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with Velera (PSCU/CO-OP) and/or Fiserv DNA strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Operations, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Preferred certifications: Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), Certified Payments Professional (CPP), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Payments Risk Professional Certification

- Physical requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
- Mental and emotional requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
