Full-time position supporting our Endocrinology Associates Outpatient team in Lemoyne.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:00 pm or 8:00 am–4:30 pm
  • No weekends or holidays

Infrequent travel to Carlisle and York locations may be required to assist with staffing needs.

About the Role

The Patient Services Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients, warmly welcoming them upon arrival and ensuring a positive and seamless experience throughout their visit. This role promotes consumer-friendly technologies, educates patients on copayments and financial responsibilities, collects payments, updates demographic and insurance information, schedules follow-up appointments, and connects patients with financial advocacy resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm greeting for all patients
  • Guide patients through self-arrival technology or check-in at the desk based on preference
  • Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service
  • Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Follow up on unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure continuity of care
  • Apply service-recovery principles to address and resolve service that does not meet UPMC Experience expectations
  • Promote and assist patients with MyUPMC patient portal registration
  • Confirm/verify insurance benefits via online systems or telephone inquiries
  • Obtain patient or family signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility in compliance with HIPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with personal computer-based applications, office equipment, and proficient typing skills preferred
  • Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal, or customer service function preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems preferred
  • Prior healthcare or medical office experience preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

  • Act 34 clearance
