About the Role
This position has a strong emphasis on customer service to our patients. You will ensure quality patient scheduling, positive telephone etiquette, and customer satisfaction in support of the mission of Cooper University Hospital. As the front-line contact person for all incoming patients, you will greet, register, schedule, collect point-of-service copays, and provide general information to patients and their families using AIDET. You must be organized, take independent action, and project Cooper’s values to both customers and co-workers. Additionally, you will serve as the patient’s non-clinical navigator during discharge coordination.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
- Greet, register, and schedule patients efficiently.
- Collect point-of-service copays.
- Use AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) to communicate with patients.
- Serve as a non-clinical navigator during discharge coordination.
- Maintain excellent telephone etiquette and organizational skills.
- Project Cooper’s values in all interactions with customers and co-workers.
Requirements
- Minimum one year of recent registration or billing experience working in a medical facility (preferred).
- Proficiency in patient registration, scheduling, medical insurance pre-certifications, authorizations, and referrals (preferred).
- Epic experience (preferred).
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated performance of excellent customer service skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- NAHAM Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification (preferred).

- Proficient in the use of computers.
