Patient Services Coordinator - Oncology (Per Diem)

Responsibilities

  • Gathers pertinent information from insurance carriers, financial counselors, and other ancillary staff to make certain the patient’s financial obligations for services provided.
  • Processes paperwork for new patients efficiently and in accordance with protocols.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations if needed from insurance carrier.
  • Resolves pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patient’s appointment.
  • Tracks and supports patients when they obtain services outside the practice e.g. Emergency departments, Hospital and other health care facilities.
  • Maintains PCMH referral processes and enters referrals and documents communications, actions and other data in an information system.
  • Safeguards proper signing and filing of all referral requests.
  • Aids in specialty appointments and obtains needed tests recommended by specialists.
  • Communicates with other team members and referral teams constructively in order to reduce conflicts and enhance the resolution of issues.
  • Functions as the system navigator and point of contact for patients and families, ensuring direct access for questions and concerns on orders and referrals.
  • Provides care management services for high-risk patients.
  • Obtains insurance referrals for patients, getting PA for diagnostic imaging and sending referrals to specialist offices for cardiac and preventative screenings.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: Five years experience working with referral processes.
  • Familiarity with EPC EHR system
