About the role

Today, we provide medical oncology and hematology, radiation oncology, rheumatology, and urology services to our phenomenal patients.

Responsibilities

  • Captures and schedules appointments for patients in our growing oncology and hematology practice.
  • Interprets provider orders, schedules accordingly, and obtains approval for schedule changes or cancellations as necessary.
  • Navigates multiple providers and departments simultaneously, acting as a patient advocate and supporting service needs.
  • Communicates and problem-solves with clinic staff and patients' care teams to ensure exceptional care is provided.
  • Documents complete and accurate information in the electronic medical record as needed.
  • Operates on computer, phone, and fax systems for the majority of the day.
  • Aids and acts as backup to other team members as requested.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.

Requirements

  • Understands medical terminology and procedures.
  • Compassionate and caring bedside manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independent and good at follow-through.
  • Work efficiently with positive communication in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Manage difficult and emotional situations with empathy for patients in the various stages of their treatments.
  • Moderate understanding of computer, phone, and fax systems, EMR or other medical technologies is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
