Patient Scheduler per diem M-F days
Description
Per diem within M-F days with occasional Saturday hours
Training is Mon-Fri 8a-4:30p for 2-3 weeks
Third week of training required for candidates with less than 1 year of hospital based registration experience
Position Purpose
Reporting to the Manager Patient Access, the Central Scheduler is responsible for scheduling outpatient diagnostic testing, assisting with the billing process for reimbursement of provided services, and assisting with the outpatient registration process.
What You Will Do
- Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic testing appointments and provide testing requirements and instructions to patients
- Interview patients to obtain and/or complete testing documents, medical case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms
- Operate office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, copiers, fax, and use of computer systems including database entry, word processing, spreadsheets, and other software applications
- Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years clerical experience in a medical field preferred
- A minimum of 6 months customer service experience required
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
