Medical Scheduler Per Diem

Job Summary

University Radiology, a leading provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in New Jersey, is seeking a Per Diem Medical Scheduler for their East Brunswick, NJ Business Office. The position involves answering high-volume calls, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate patient information.

Responsibilities

• Answers a high volume of calls, aiming for 9-10 calls per hour in a professional and courteous manner.
• Schedules and reschedules appointments for all imaging offices, maintaining an even workload across all locations.
• Makes sure the supporting signs and symptoms match the ordered exam and refers to an office tech for assistance if needed.
• Ensures patients understand necessary preparations and inform them of the need for any necessary lab tests; confirms the office location/address with the caller.
• Acquires current insurance information and is familiar with the requirements of different insurance companies.
• Notifies patients of potential referral and pre-certification needs and keeps updated on changing insurance company requirements.
• Navigates the Insurance Matrix to determine which plans the facility participates with.
• Documents patient records with supporting notes from the call.

Requirements

• Knowledge of simple anatomy (e.g., abdomen, forearm, lungs).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a high call volume and fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of insurances and precertification requirements.
