About the role
This position is eligible for Mid Atlantic Retina’s $1,000 Hiring Incentive! The hired candidate will receive $500 after successful completion of 90 days of employment and $500 after successful completion of 6 months of employment. Available to new hires only—not available to agency hires, internal transfers, or re-hires.
Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming and friendly greeting to patients as they enter the medical office.
- Provide patients with a positive first impression by greeting patients and directing them to the proper check-in area.
- Verify visitors have an appointment by utilizing the daily scheduling report.
- Monitor patient waiting rooms to ensure rooms are not overcrowded.
- Accept packages from UPS and FedEx and alert appropriate parties.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

- Communication & Relationship Management: Maintain open and interactive discussion with the team and is aware of their needs; works well with both Wills Eye Hospital staff and MAR team, including security personnel and front desk staff.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clinical medical practice environment. The role routinely uses cleaning supplies, a contactless thermometer, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and a hand cart to move packages.

- Regularly required to talk and communicate verbally in front of groups, one-to-one, and occasionally via email.
- Very active role requiring standing and walking all day to greet patients, direct them to seats, and check various waiting rooms.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds with the assistance of a hand cart.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use hands to operate equipment, show manual or finger dexterity, handle things with precision or speed, use muscular coordination and physical stamina (e.g., handle a thermometer and wipes).
- Use senses to observe and visually examine patients, paying attention to detail.
- Follow through on plans or instructions; use words to communicate ideas and basic reading comprehension.
- Sustain physical contact with another person in order to guide them due to diminished vision (e.g., hand-over-arm guided assist).
Position Type & Hours
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Fluent in Mandarin or another language is a plus but not required.
