About the Role
The Patient Flow Coordinator Per Diem will manage and optimize patient admissions and movement within the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize patient admissions through admission records and hospital sources such as the recovery room and emergency department.
- Assign patients to appropriate floors, bed types, and statuses based on admission criteria or physician orders.
- Notify receiving units of patient admission details and bed assignments.
- Continually assess patient flow and alert relevant personnel about delays or issues in movement.
- Keep directors, nurse managers, and other leaders informed of clinical and operational issues, including discharges and admissions.
- Collaborate with Care Coordination staff on scheduled ambulance transfers and discharges.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of experience in a role requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills, including tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse setting with varied internal and external contacts.
- Proficiency in general computer systems and familiarity with MS Office applications.
Pay
Salary Range: $18.47 - $28.61 USD per hour. Compensation is determined by factors such as job-related experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. For eligible positions, additional pay may include clinical certification pay and shift differentials. The listed range reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
