Patient Case Specialist, Part Time- Evenings

About the Role

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Patient Case Specialist with our Patient Access Services Department. We are committed to a patient-centric, efficient healthcare delivery system that focuses on quality, safety, service, and operational excellence. This position is 100% onsite and requires you to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

• Performs a thorough analysis of patient's financial data.
• Determines and meets requirements of third-party payors to secure reimbursement for inpatient services.
• Documents all account activity to ensure proper billing.
• Captures complete and accurate patient demographic and insurance information for inpatient admissions.
• Determines patient's liability; discusses liability with patient to secure payment.
• Cross-trains to all Admission Services functions.
• Performs other duties as requested by senior management.

Requirements

• A completed Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 or more years of relevant experience.
• Good communication skills - verbal and written.
• Ability to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external customers with tact, discretion, and courtesy.
• Strong mathematical skills to calculate patient liability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a healthcare setting.

Schedule

Part-time, 0.5 FTE. Shift: Evenings, with rotating weekends (weekend shifts are 8 hours; weekdays may vary).

Pay

The pay range for this position reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.
