Patient Case Specialist, Full Time -nights
About the role
Join UChicago Medicine, a world-class academic healthcare system, as a Patient Case Specialist in the Patient Access Services Department. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. The role focuses on a patient-centric, efficient healthcare delivery system emphasizing quality, safety, service, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough analysis of patient's financial data.
- Determine and meet requirements of third-party payors to secure reimbursement for inpatient services.
- Document all account activity to ensure proper billing.
- Capture complete and accurate patient demographic and insurance information for inpatient admissions.
- Determine patient's liability and discuss it with the patient to secure payment.
- Cross-train across all Admission Services functions.
- Perform other duties as requested by senior management.
Requirements
- A completed Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 or more years of relevant experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external customers with tact, discretion, and courtesy.
- Strong mathematical skills to calculate patient liability.

- Experience working in a healthcare setting.

Pay
The pay range for this full-time (1.0 FTE) position reflects current market data and is reviewed annually. Compensation at hire varies based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.
