The surgery unit has 29 beds and serves a dynamic patient population, including surgical, trauma, and a variety of medical patients. Surgeries typically involve the neck to the gut, such as:

  • GI surgeries (colon resections, small bowel resections, cholecystectomies, appendectomies)
  • Vascular surgeries
  • Mastectomies
  • Thyroidectomies
  • Maxillofacial procedures

Patients may have an ostomy, NGT, feeding tubes, drains, or other medical devices. Trauma patients may have multiple injuries, chest tubes, a tracheostomy, or other drains but are stable enough for a non-ICU/step-down med-surg floor. As a Level 2 trauma center, we offer an energetic team environment focused on patient safety, professional relationships, and staff development.
