Patient Care Tech - MedSurg, Trauma
About the Role
Athens, GA location offering a sign-on bonus. This is a full-time night shift position (7pm-7am) on a 29-bed surgery unit that serves a dynamic patient population, including surgical, trauma, and a variety of medical patients. The unit specializes in surgeries from the neck to the gut, such as GI surgeries (colon resections, small bowel resections, cholecystectomies, appendectomies), vascular surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and maxillofacial procedures. Patients may have ostomies, nasogastric tubes (NGT), feeding tubes, drains, or other medical devices. Trauma patients may present with multiple injuries, chest tubes, tracheostomies, or other drains but are stable enough for a non-ICU/step-down med-surg floor. The hospital is a Level 2 trauma center.

Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients from birth through the lifecycle under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.
- Demonstrate competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.
- Patient ratios are determined by volume and acuity of patient needs; extenuating circumstances may require adjustments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- No prior work experience required; 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required upon hire.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Certification from a Patient Care Technician program preferred.
