Patient Care Tech Medical Telemetry, Full-Time, Day Shift

About the role

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Technician - FULL TIME DAYS Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Medical Telemetry. The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff. Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support independent and dependent activities of daily living
• Measure and record vital signs
• Assist with mobility and ambulation
• Perform phlebotomy
• Conduct point of care testing
• Perform EKG testing
• Remove peripheral IV lines
• Collect specimens
• Insert and remove foley catheters
• Comply with patient safety practices under direction of RN
• Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions
• Document observations timely and accurately
• Report any changes to nurse or medical staff

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
• One of the following:
  • Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
  • Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
  • Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
  • Emergency Services experience to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
  • Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT
  • Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
• Basic Life Support Certification (required)

Pay

The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
