About the Role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being, including concepts of relationship-based care.

This role supports older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, acute and chronic heart failure patients, as well as medical-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. The unit is a 32-bed facility with an average patient age of 64, where close and frequent assessment and timely clinical interventions are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, feeding, and menu selection.
  • Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
  • Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
  • Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements.
  • Provide care for cardiac and medical-surgical patients requiring monitoring and intervention.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
  • Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Schedule

  • Full-time and part-time positions available.
  • Shifts: Day (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM) or Night (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • Every other weekend and holiday required for both full-time and part-time team members.
