About the Role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. This role assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and patient/family-centered care environment, supporting relationship-based care concepts.

This position is available in full-time and part-time capacities, with shifts including days, nights, every other weekend, and holidays.

  • Day Shift: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
  • Night Shift: 10:30 pm - 7:00 am

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, feeding, and menu selection.
  • Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
  • Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
  • Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements.
  • Provide care to older adolescent, adult, and older adult cardiac patients, including those with acute and chronic heart failure, as well as medical-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
  • Perform close and frequent patient assessments and timely clinical interventions to support treatment goals.

The unit is a 32-bed facility with an average patient age of 64.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
  • Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
