Patient Care Supervisor - Labor & Delivery

About the role

This position involves patient care management, ensuring compliance with unit standards and policies, coordinating care activities, and managing workflow and communication during assigned shifts. You will supervise staff, address employee concerns, and foster a collaborative environment while maintaining fiscal responsibility and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care management duties, including development and evaluation, performance improvement, and staffing pattern adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with established unit standards, policies, and specific standards of care.
• Coordinate patient care activities for the assigned shift and manage employee-related issues to optimize the work environment.
• Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and diagnostic data analysis, providing age-specific nursing interventions aligned with the plan of care.
• Demonstrate professional growth by setting goals, participating in educational offerings, and contributing to department initiatives and evidence-based practices.
• Foster a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment for patients, families, and visitors while building interdepartmental and collaborative relationships.
• Supervise and ensure the proper use of health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
• Participate in managing the fiscal responsibility of the unit and utilize standard work related to nursing-sensitive quality indicators.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification.
• Advanced resuscitative certification appropriate to the patient population required within 6 months of hire.
