Patient Care Manager Assistant/UKHC

Job Summary

The Assistant Patient Care Manager (A-PCM) supports the Patient Care Manager (PCM) by providing supervision, coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for growth to nursing staff. They assist with scheduling, payroll management, monitoring of staff competencies, evaluation of staff performance, and special projects as assigned by the PCM. The A-PCM serves as the manager for clerical staff as appropriate on the assigned unit(s).

Increased supervision and staff coaching/mentoring are associated with decreased staff turnover and improved patient outcomes. The A-PCM provides clinical and managerial oversight on the shifts they are assigned.

The A-PCM supports the Patient Care Managers to develop nursing staff at all levels to ensure nursing practice that supports exemplary patient care, compliance with regulatory/accreditation standards, and exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, mentor, and provide opportunities for growth to nursing staff.
• Assist with scheduling, payroll management, monitoring of staff competencies, and evaluation of staff performance.
• Support the development of nursing staff at all levels to ensure exemplary patient care.
• Provide clinical and managerial oversight on assigned shifts.
• Manage clerical staff as appropriate on the assigned unit(s).

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• 1.5 years / 18 months of RN experience
• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Ability to move about in a complex physical environment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds occasionally and 25-50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of group dynamics, problem-solving, interviewing, observation, counseling, and teaching.

Qualifications

• Preferred: BSN with 4 years of related job experience and previous management experience.

Schedule

Must be open for a variable schedule that may require days/evenings/nights, as the hospital is open 24/7. Must be available for weekends and/or holidays, per departmental needs.

Pay

$30.00-53.67/hour
