About the role
The Nurse Manager will supervise all designated nursing staff and other clinical support staff functions for clinics in the Markey Cancer Center. Ensuring appropriate management of resources and quality patient care are essential job duties for this position.
Responsibilities
- Initiating actions for resolutions
- Maintaining nursing standards of care and magnet-related designations requirements
- Participating in updating policies and procedures
- Ensuring adequate nursing staff and clinical support staff are available to care for patients
- Working with staff to develop schedules and coverage plans
- Aiding staff in developing clinical and systems resources
- Completing designated staff performance evaluations
- Collaborating with the practice manager and ambulatory nursing director for practice and clinical improvement and nursing initiatives
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- National certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire and maintained throughout employment in this job title
- The national certification will require approval by nursing leadership
- The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis
- The position involves standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time
- The position may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments
- The position works Monday – Friday, Day Shift; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hours/week)
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Master’s degree in Nursing preferred
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Strong communication skills
- Base/minimum knowledge of Oncology and Chemotherapy agents
