Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Food Services, the Patient Care Host/Hostess provides personalized meal service to patients. This role helps enhance the patient experience through meal assistance, delivery, and support services. Location: Lancaster General Hospital, 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with menu selections based on prescribed diets
- Ensure meal selections meet guidelines for modified diets
- Communicate patient selections to food production staff
- Prepare and deliver meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements
- Monitor and record patient intake; communicate updates to care team members
- Maintain accurate patient diet information using hospital systems
- Assemble meal trays and serve meals in a timely, courteous manner
- Collect used dishware and transport to dish room; assist with cleaning
- Stock patient and staff pantries, ensuring proper labeling, dating, and rotation
- Prepare simple cold items such as salads and sandwiches as needed
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff
- Report concerns or issues promptly to appropriate personnel
Additional Responsibilities
- Support sanitation and cleanliness standards in the department
- Assist with monitoring intake and completing calorie counts when assigned
- Complete required documentation accurately and according to procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
- At least 6 months of experience using computers or electronic systems
- Experience in healthcare or food service preferred
Work Schedule
- Variable shifts between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM
- Includes every other weekend and every other holiday
