About the role

A Patient Care Assistant performs routine nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR). This is a float-pool position that works variable hours across different departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform generic and department-specific clinical-support duties as outlined in the Clinical Support Partner job description.
  • Report significant signs, symptoms, and changes in patient condition—such as level of consciousness, mobility, breathing pattern, skin color, pain, wound drainage, decreased output, equipment alarms, or behavioral/emotional concerns—to the Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR).
  • Respond appropriately to:
    • Cardiac/pulmonary arrest
    • Psychiatric emergencies
    • Postpartum hemorrhage (Birth Center)
    • Newborn emergencies (Birth Center)
  • Demonstrate safe use of patient-care equipment.
  • Understand and adapt to the developmental and behavioral characteristics of all age groups served: neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Phlebotomy duties

  • Perform phlebotomy and chem-strip procedures according to correct protocols.
  • Maintain biannual phlebotomy certification.

Requirements

  • Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • AHA BLS for healthcare providers.
  • Medical Assistant (MA) – Phlebotomy certification required; must obtain within 90 days of hire if not already certified.
  • One year of patient-care experience preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in a diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with patients of all age groups and developmental stages.

Pay

Salary range: $27.34 – $43.61 per hour, depending on experience.
