About the role

A Patient Care Assistant performs routine nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR).
Responsibilities
Demonstrates applied knowledge in generic and department-specific structure/process standards and patient care resources and references. Reports significant signs and symptoms, observations in changes in patient condition, equipment that is alarming or malfunctioning, and concerns related to patient or family behavior to the Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR).
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to cardiac/pulmonary arrest, psychiatric emergencies, postpartum hemorrhage, and newborn emergencies
- Demonstrates safe use of patient care equipment
- Demonstrates understanding of the developmental/behavioral characteristics of ages served, including neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric (older adult)
Additional duties for MA - Phlebotomy include performing phlebotomy as requested, maintaining biannual certification, and performing chem strip procedure according to procedure.
Requirements
- Current licensure to practice in the State of Washington as a Certified Nursing Assistant
- AHA BLS for healthcare providers
- One (1) Year Patient Care Experience, Preferred
- MA - Phlebotomy certification, required (or must obtain within 90 days of hire)

Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills in a diverse population. Ability to communicate and work effectively with the physical and emotional developments of all age groups.
