About the role
A Patient Care Assistant performs routine nursing services under the supervision of a professional nurse or Clinical Administrative Resource (CAR). This is a float-pool position that works variable hours across different departments.
Responsibilities
- Perform generic and department-specific clinical-support duties as outlined in the Clinical Support Partner job description.
- Report significant signs, symptoms, and changes in patient condition—such as level of consciousness, mobility, breathing pattern, skin color, pain, wound drainage, or output—to the RN, LPN, or CAR.
- Report alarming or malfunctioning equipment and any behavioral or compliance concerns.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies: cardiac/pulmonary arrest, psychiatric crises, postpartum hemorrhage (Birth Center), and newborn emergencies (Birth Center).
- Demonstrate safe use of patient-care equipment and understanding of developmental/behavioral characteristics for all age groups served: neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Phlebotomy duties
- Perform phlebotomy and chem-strip procedures according to protocol.
- Maintain biannual phlebotomy certification.
Requirements
- Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- AHA BLS for healthcare providers.
- One year of patient-care experience preferred.
- Medical Assistant–Phlebotomy certification required (or must obtain within 90 days of hire).

Pay
Salary range: $27.34 – $43.61 per hour, depending on experience.
