Patient Allocation Coordinator - Full Time - Days

About the role

This is a temporary position with the possibility of permanent hire. The Patient Allocation Coordinator coordinates all patient bed assignments, monitors admissions in the Emergency departments within Mohawk Valley Health System, assigns admission bed locations, handles internal transfer bed assignments, and facilitates patient intake from outside facilities for all services offered within the system. In coordination with Case Management, the coordinator will assist in arranging appropriate discharge transportation.

Responsibilities

• Handles bed assignments for all internal and external admissions.
• Monitors real-time bed availability across all hospital units.
• Arranges accepting physician for transfers from outside facilities.
• Collaborates and communicates patient disposition details and requirements across multiple disciplinary departments.
• Supports emergency preparedness by ensuring rapid bed allocation during high demand situations.
• Adheres to HIPAA rules and regulations, including accessing Electronic Medical Records, entering referrals, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Documents transportation arrangements in the appropriate hospital system and ensures services are rendered within required time frames.
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare or related environment.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• EMTALA education.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records, preferably Epic.

Pay

$20 - $26 per hour
