Patient Allocation Coordinator - Part Time - Days

Job Summary

This is a temporary position with the possibility of permanent hire. The Patient Allocation Coordinator coordinates all patient bed assignments.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Handles bed assignments for all internal and external admissions.
• Maintains real-time bed availability across all hospital units.
• Arranges accepting physician for transfers from outside facilities.
• Collaborates and communicates patient disposition details and requirements across multiple disciplinary departments.
• Supports emergency preparedness by ensuring rapid bed allocation during high demand situations.
• Adheres to the rules and regulations set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, including accessing Electronic Medical Records, entering referrals, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Documents transportation arrangements in the appropriate hospital system and ensures appropriate services are rendered within required time frames.

Required Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare or related environment.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred

• EMTALA education.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records, preferably Epic.

Licensure/Certification

• No specific licensure/certification required at this time.
