About the role

The Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital is seeking Patient Administrative Associates to join their team. Recognized as one of the busiest ED's in Connecticut, HHED is also an accredited Level 1 Trauma Center, chest pain center and comprehensive stroke center, treating patients of the highest acuity in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support and communicates with members of the health care team, patients and families.
  • Contributes to the successful operation of the work area.
  • Performs delegated functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Unit Manager.
  • Observes cardiac monitors, interprets telemetry rhythm strips, and reports any abnormalities or critical changes to the clinical team.
  • Performs standard work related to telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac observation.
  • Provides analysis of cardiac rhythms in compliance with all regulatory and hospital/system standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  • Interprets, communicates and documents cardiac rhythms and other monitored parameters.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to read English, and perform basic Mathematics.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, write, and speak English.
  • Basic Computer Skills Required.
  • Ability to perform physical effort as specified by position physical requirements and occupational exposure form.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred, with hospital based or physician office work experience.
  • Demonstrated competencies in a related health field at Hartford Hospital.
  • CPR validation may be required within three months of hire depending upon work area specific requirement.
