Patient Accounts Supervisor-Gov't- Patient Financial Services (Exempt, Days)
Position Summary
The Patient Accounts Supervisor oversees daily billing and accounts receivable (AR) operations across assigned payer or functional areas. This role ensures timely and accurate claim submission, effective denial prevention and resolution, and optimization of cash collections. The Supervisor leads a team responsible for billing, follow-up, and reimbursement activities, using data-driven insights, system tools (e.g., Epic work queues, dashboards), and performance metrics to improve outcomes. This position partners cross-functionally with clinical, coding, access, and compliance teams to address revenue cycle issues and ensure regulatory adherence. This role supports Enloe Health’s mission by promoting patient-centered financial practices and maintaining a high standard of service, accountability, and operational excellence.
Minimum EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE
- Three years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital, outpatient clinic, or physician office, with oversight of clerical functions that can include billing, patient access, registration, scheduling, or other front-end revenue cycle operations.
- Working knowledge of payer requirements (government and/or commercial).
- Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic).
Desired
- Three years of healthcare billing, follow-up, or revenue cycle experience.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in revenue cycle operations.
- Experience across multiple payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
- Familiarity with denial management strategies and revenue cycle KPIs.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of California Statutes and regulations, to include regulatory requirements of JCAHO standards and HIPAA regulations, Title 22 regulations, as well as Medicare and Medi-Cal requirements.
- Knowledge of, and/or the ability to assist with, Patient Financial Service management and reporting, participate in quality improvement processes, conduct staff performance evaluations, and perform other duties relevant to human resources management.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word applications.
- Ability to lead, motivate, delegate, analyze information, and effectively solve problems.
- Professional judgment, sensitivity for the hospitalized patient and their family, and strict confidentiality.
- Able to fulfill all the essential functions of the position.
