Patient Access Services Team Lead - Pre Reg

About the Role

The Patient Access Services Team Lead is the leader of the first line of quality service to our patients and guests. This position leads ambassadors of service, setting the standard for customer service. The team greets customers and provides the highest level of service, performing timely and accurate registrations, scheduling, benefit verification, patient education (regarding benefits), scanning, faxing, and securing appropriate authorizations and referrals for services.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership-level customer service, treating all customers and employees with dignity, respect, and courtesy while proactively assisting as needed.
• Schedule surgeries, procedures, PAT appointments, and first post-op visits, communicating appointments to patients, physicians, and others as required.
• Maintain the department database as a backup and act as a liaison to facilitate communications between physicians, patients/families, PAT, OR, patient access, patient accounts, payors, and outside customers.
• Adhere to hospital and departmental rules, including confidentiality, code of conduct, attendance, and payroll policies.
• Maintain a safe and clean patient care area, using work time productively.

Requirements

• Proven leadership skills and abilities; 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare/clinic setting preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a fast-paced patient access healthcare environment.
• Insurance verification experience.
• Healthcare scheduling experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Experience working with managed care health plans.
• Excellent patient registration skills and customer service/telephone etiquette.
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient computer skills, including internet, typing, and data entry.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
