About the Role

This position supports Cincinnati Children's mission by ensuring timely and accurate patient access to healthcare services. The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients and families, facilitating registration, scheduling, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and families in a professional, compassionate manner.
  • Verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information accurately.
  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and tests using electronic systems.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at time of service.
  • Explain financial policies, payment plans, and insurance requirements to patients.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, billing departments, and insurance providers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with patient flow and escalate urgent needs to appropriate staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant certification (e.g., CHAA, CMAA) preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare registration, scheduling, or customer service.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
