About the role

This position is for a Patient Access Representative at Cincinnati Children's.

Responsibilities

  • Check patients in for appointments, verify and update demographic and insurance information, and collect co-pays and other payments as applicable.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments accurately across multiple clinical systems, coordinating with clinical teams to optimize patient flow and clinic efficiency.
  • Perform insurance eligibility verification, obtain prior authorizations and referrals as needed, and ensure accurate documentation is captured in the electronic medical record.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, clinicians, and other ancillary departments to facilitate seamless patient access and continuity of care.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient access processes and service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service role, preferably in a healthcare, patient access, or medical office setting.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including electronic medical records (EMR), scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college coursework or an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in a pediatric healthcare environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party payer requirements is desirable.
