Patient Access Representative I, Part Time, Evenings, 3pm-11pm, Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center

About the Role

The Patient Access Representative (PAR) plays a vital role in the patient and family experience, serving as an initial point of contact within our health system. Responsibilities include securing accurate patient information, interpreting and communicating patient responsibility, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies. The PAR acts as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and other stakeholders for all post-care matters related to account resolution.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and address them by name in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
• Obtain and verify accurate patient information for registration, including federally required and hospital-related consents.
• Interpret and communicate patient financial responsibility.
• Attempt to resolve customer questions and concerns, including handling challenging customers.
• Obtain accurate patient identification to support the financial and operational success of the organization.
• Maintain contact with third-party payers to determine reasons for outstanding claims and facilitate speedy payment.
• Request payment of financial dues from patients or guarantors.
• Reconcile daily bank bags and post dues collected or data entry/charge codes within the financial system.
• Ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) across various patient settings and locations.
• Adapt to changes in the work environment and meet shift expectations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Ability to lift more than 25 lbs if needed.
• Customer service experience (preferred).
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably EPIC (preferred).
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in Patient Access, Medical Office, Health Insurance, or a relevant area (preferred).

Schedule

Part-time, evenings (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), every other weekend.
