Patient Access Representative Hospital

About the role

You will work at East Madison Hospital in Madison, WI, UW Health’s newest and one of the most advanced hospitals and wellness centers in the country. The position focuses on patient access, including entering and verifying demographic and insurance information, identifying and collecting patient financial obligations, and registering or admitting patients while promoting a positive patient and family experience.

Responsibilities

• Enter and verify demographic and insurance information for patients.
• Identify and collect patient financial obligations.
• Register or admit patients into the hospital system.
• Promote a positive patient and family experience with empathy and compassionate collections.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills in all interactions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Associate’s Degree in Business, Finance, Health Information Management, or a related field (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in a customer‑service‑related field (required).
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare, call center, business, financial, or insurance‑related field (required).

Schedule

70% FTE, day shift working Thursday and Friday from 7 am – 3:30 pm, and every other Saturday and Sunday from 7 am – 7:30 pm.
